a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

As Christmas time nears, it reminds me of something that happended during a reunion that we had one December in 1986 of the camp counslors.

We all set out to find a tree but we, being environmentalists did not want to cut one down, so we found one that had fallen and drug it back into the lodge.  When we were thinking about what to put on it, Julie Cooper said to start with limbs.  So, you can imagine how it looked.  But with all our team training we took our task seriously.

We got it all decorated and were ready to open the few gifts we had, when Sharon Carmichael pulled a gift out from under the tree, and the whole tree started to fall.  It was a tall tree so it took a few seconds and I still to this day remember her running forward, hunched over, looking back over her shoulder as the tree fell on her.  Luckily, everyone was okay and it is still my favorite Christmas story!
