Cycling.

Told by Roger

In undergraduate school I had a bicycle, one of the few on campus. At
that time I checked in the library -- there was only one book on
cycling, and it was printed about 1915. Later, in graduate school, I
moved out on Airport Road and bicycled in. After a few days the uphill
portion became bearable, but after a while I got smart and moved to
Carrboro, so the ride would be a straight shot on Cameron Avenue. In
those years I put less than 4,000 miles per year on my car. The bicycle
was a boon to a person on a graduate assistant's income. The more
bicycling we use to replace in transport, the better....Roger
